- He Resigns, mezzo-soprano and piano, duration: 5 minutes.  Text by John Berryman.  Commissioned by the National Conference on John Berryman, 1989, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Two versions available:  recital and staged version with dialogue and character  © 1989 

- Psalm 22, Chant; tenor, piano, duration:  8 minutes.  Text Psalm 22.  Commissioned by Woodlake Lutheran Church, Richfield, Minnesota.  Often performed at Maundy Thursday services  © 1997 

- Songs of the Night Wind, String Quartet No. 2, string quartet and baritone, duration: 18 minutes.  Text by Carl Sandburg.  Commissioned and premiered by the Stockholm String Quartet, Olle Persson, baritone, Stockholm, Sweden.              © 1999 

- Whispers, a song cycle of art song lullabies for soprano and chamber ensemble, piano, harp, cello, and flute ensemble, duration:  40 minutes, combining art song and lullaby, texts by Eugene Field; funded through the McKnight Foundation and Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Fellowship Programs. ©2002  Songs include:
